Paul Dervan lectures undergraduate students at levels 6, 7 and 8 in business studies at the Institute of Technology, Blanchardstown (ITB) Dublin. His academic career started in 1999 when he delivered a Business Policy course for Dublin Business School. He joined ITB as a part-time faculty member in 2003 and as a full-time academic in 2011. Prior to joining ITB, Paul held senior management positions in eircom within the marketing and IT departments. His current research interests centre on the use of technology to enhance student engagement and learning. His work has been published previously by ICEP and by the All Ireland Society for Higher Education (AISHE). At this time, Paul’s research is focused on the use of e-Portfolios in assessment and the use of video conferencing technology to bring an international dimension to the first year learning experience.
