Co-Teaching in a Large Class in Higher Education Working Collaboratively in Support of Engaging Pedagogy

Author Anna Logan, Annmarie Farrell
Abstract Cuseo (2007) identified eight potential negative outcomes in relation to student learning experience associated with large university classes. This paper uses Cuseo's hypothesis to frame the rationale for and presentation of the findings of a study wherein both authors co-taught a class of 400 students over four sessions using a workshop format. The findings suggest that the challenges outlined by Cuseo can be ameliorated if teaching strategies are considered in the co-taught context.
